Deer Crossing Reminders

  1. Wooden decks are watersealed every six years on the paint cycle. If you feel your deck needs more frequent sealing (most do), you may do it yourself or hire someone to seal it. Only Thompson's Clear Water Seal may be used. Anyone who has enlarged their deck has signed an agreement that they will be responsible for upkeep, repairs and future replacement. This includes resealing.

  2. Many people find it difficult to change the panels in their storm doors, so an alternate style which is self storing has been authorized. Call Mercantile for product informations.

  3. Should you find it necessary to replace your "greenhouse" window (phase 2) the authorized replacement information is available by calling Mercantile.

  4. Individual air conditioners and fans may not be placed in front of unit windows.

  5. No more than three small logs are to be burned at one time in your fireplace. Artificial logs are prohibited. Cleaning of the chimney and flu is the owners responsibility.

  6. One potted hanging plant is allowed at your front entryway. Impatiens and Dusty Miller may be planted in the mulched area in front of your shrubs. Nothing may be planted between your patio or deck and the end of the wood chipped area. If you wish to plant beyond the wood chips, please submit your plan to the Building and Grounds Committee for approval. Bird feeders may only be installed beyond the chipped area.

  7. Please park your vehicle at least a foot away from the lawn edge to enable the sprinkler system and lawn mowers to do their jobs effectively.

  8. When leaving your unit for a weekend or longer during the winter, set your thermostat no lower that 55 F, turn off water to your unit (red faucet in corner of cellar) and open all faucets. Adding antifreeze in the toilet can also be helpful. Failure to do this considered negligence on your part.

  9. Each unit is allowed two parking spaces in front of their unit. Guests and visitors should be instructed to use the guest parking areas.

  10. Use of garbage disposals is prohibited.

  11. Dogs should be leashed at all times and their waste must be removed. Please direct dogs away from grass areas. Cats must have a collar with a bell.

  12. If using community hose, please rewind on the reel provided at the spigot.

  13. If using your own hose, please do not leave unwound and return it to your limited common area.

  14. You may request a key that will admit you to the clubhouse, pool and tennis court from the management company. The fee is $10. Replacement keys are $75.
